Before we began filming, we ensured that our storyboard and plot conformed to the conventions of our genre. This should ensure that our opening is accepted by our audience. To achieve this me and Paul designed a questionnaire to ask members of our target audience about the conventions of a crime thriller film.
We then categorised the answers and determined whether our opening to a fiction film contained these. The people we questioned expected guns, chases, tense, a good plot, a complex and interesting plot and possibly a twist at the end.
Our opening is based around a chase sequence, and both characters use a gun at some point. It also contains a small tense, and what I hope is a fairly good plot. It also has a small twist at the end.
